Kim Anderson Talking Wheat Markets- Again- Says Market Fundamentals Do Not Justify Price Levels
Fri, 03 Sep 2010 5:52:49 CDT
After being off since the first of July, Extension Grain Market Economist Dr. Kim Anderson is back on a parttime basis at the University- and he says that the rally in wheat since harvest is all about the commodity funds pushing the market higher. The fundamentals, he says, do not justify the higher wheat prices, as ending stockes are up some two hundred million bushels from this point a year ago- even as prices are a couple of dollars higher.
Dr. Anderson told Austin Moore with the OSU Division of Agriculture program SUNUP that he knows many farmers have already sold into the rally- and that continuing to stagger some wheat into the market on days it jumps higher makes a lot of sense. He believes that the pricing opportunities for at least a portion of the 2011 wheat crop looks like a winner as well.
Dr. Anderson is back on the weekly TV show that is seen on OETA this Saturday morning- but if you want to hear his comments a bit early- click on the LISTEN BAR below- as he talks marketing strategy for both the 2010 crop harvested and the 2011 crop not yet planted.
