NCBA Lobbyist Colin Woodall Keeps the Drumbeat Going in Opposition to GIPSA Rule
Wed, 27 Oct 2010 4:24:06 CDT
The discussion about the GIPSA Marketing Rule continues to accelerate as we come closer to the end of the comment period on the rule- the comment period ends November 22, 2010. Speculation is mounting that USDA will not read and consider the comments provided- but will allow the Administrator of GIPSA, Dudley Butler to finalize the rule largely as it is on November 23rd or shortly after.
The lead lobbyist in the Washington officer for the NCBA is Colin Woodall, and he continues to urge cattle producers to learn more about the rule- and then submit comments. We talked with Woodall about GIPSA and more at the just concluded annual Convention of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association that was held in Oklahoma City.
His comments are the heart of today's Beef Buzz.
We also point people to our website, where we developed a PRIMER a few weeks back that includes links to the Rule, USDA's Clarification and Justification of the Rule, the Industry's take on the Rule- Pro and Con as well as how you submit your comments to USDA. Click here to our webpage that we call Read the Rule.
The Beef Buzz is a regular feature heard on radio stations around the state on the Radio Oklahoma Network- but is also a regular audio feature found on this website as well. Click on the listen bar below for today's show- and check out our archives for older Beef Buzz shows covering the gamut of the beef cattle industry today.
