New NCBA President- Checkoff Increase Needs to Happen
Tue, 15 Feb 2011 22:05:39 CST
At the recent Cattle Industry Convention in Denver, we spent a few moments with Bill Donald of Montana, the new President of the National Cattlemens Beef Association as their Board of Directors meeting concluded at the end of their meetings.
We talked a couple of subjects with this very articulate cattle producer from the north country- including a key question for the future of the entire beef industry. I asked Bill Donald about how the NCBA hoped to gain a concensus with other cattle groups and groups that have a large number of cattlemen in their ranks to be able to lobby Congress for an increase in the dollar per head beef checkoff- and then suceessfully be able to get passage in a referendum of cattle producers on that increase. You can hear Bill Donald's response by clicking on the LISTEN BAR below and partaking of our latest Beef Buzz.
In addition, we talked about the successful temporary fix for the so called Death Tax- and where the beef industry and others go from here to make sure the progress gained does not slip away after two years.
The Beef Buzz is a regular feature heard on radio stations around the state on the Radio Oklahoma Network- but is also a regular audio feature found on this website as well.
