From the 2011 Commodity Classic- We Talk Sorghum with Tim Lust of NSP
Thu, 03 Mar 2011 3:48:04 CST
The newest organization to jump on the Commodity Classic bandwagon is the National Sorghum Producers- as they are now in their third Commodity Classic here in 2011. Tim Lust is the CEO of the NSP- and we talked with him as farmers began to gather at the Tampa Convention Center for the 2011 event.
We touched on several issues of importance to sorghum with Lust- including sorghum in comparison to corn, biofuel policy, farm bill debate and exactly how many acres will actually be planted to sorghum in 2011. Tim Lust believes that sorghum acres will grow as farmers switch from failed wheat acres to sorghum- and perhaps from some acres that were going to go into cotton- but farmers ended up missing the planting window because of weather conditions. He believes at the end of the day- there will be more sorghum acres across the US this year compared to a year ago.
