Thursday's Strong Grain Markets Are Discussed by OSU Grain Marketing Economist Dr. Kim Anderson on SUNUP
Thu, 31 Mar 2011 22:46:59 CDT
Extension Grain Marketing Economist Dr. Kim Anderson talked with Lyndall Stout of SUNUP about Thursday's major USDA reports in a segment recorded for Saturday's program to be seen on OETA. Anderson says that while the stocks numbers were friendly for the feed grains, there was little bullish news for wheat within the numbers, but the wheat market rallied along with the corn, soybean and cotton markets on Thursday.
Anderson suspects that the wheat market was a follower of corn, but also had some traders buying in because of weather concerns that are mounting for the southern Great Plains and the Hard Red Winter Wheat Belt.
You can see Lyndall and Kim talking wheat and feed grain markets on Saturday morning- or you can HEAR their conversation now by clicking on the LISTEN BAR below.
Besides the Kim Anderson tells all segment, Lyndall tells us they have a great lineup for this weekend's show. It includes:
Jeff Edwards looks at the quality of Oklahoma's wheat crop as we approach harvest.
Next, in the wake of potential crop loss, Jody Campiche discusses the USDA's ACRE Program.
In the Mesonet report, Al and Cindy update the drought situation and look at the community that's gone nearly 200 days without measurable rainfall.
In Naturally Speaking, John Weir showcases a weather website used to monitor fire dangers.
Glenn Selk explains how body conditioning can impact calf production, in Cow-Calf Corner.
In Shop Stop, Randy and Wayne demonstrate a simple shortcut for painting pipe fencing.
SUNUP travels to Watonga to meet the volunteers who help children learn about agriculture through the Farm to You exhibit.
Then, we follow up with Rob Terry to discuss the topic of agricultural literacy.
Finally, we tip our hats to the three DASNR Champions honored this week on the OSU campus.
SUNUP airs Saturdays at 7:30 a.m. on your local OETA channel.
