Think About Selling Part of Your Wheat This Harvest Season- So Says Dr. Kim Anderson
Fri, 13 May 2011 6:57:32 CDT
Oklahoma State University's Kim Anderson tells Austin Moore on this week's SUNUP program that this year farmers need to consider selling at least some of their wheat at harvest time, with prices more than double that of one year ago.
Anderson also talks about the first wheat harvest reports of the 2011 season- and he believes that the harvest report from Grandfield shows how remarkable a crop wheat really is- making 12 to 15 bushels per acre on virtually no moisture. You can watch Austin and Kim talk about the USDA reports of earlier this week and more on Saturday morning's SUNUP- or you can listen to their conversation now by clicking on the LISTEN BAR below.
Besides the segment with Dr. Anderson, Austin Moore tells us a great set of segments are planned for this week's SUNUP:
There will be highlights of the 2011 Annual Access Tour featuring stops at the Flying 'G' Ranch and Port of Catoosa, along with perspective from James Trapp.
Phil Mulder warns growers about pecan nut casebearers and how to track the pest's progression into Oklahoma.
In the Mesonet report, a rainfall percentage comparison detailing how vastly different the conditions are in eastern versus western Oklahoma.
In Cow-Calf Corner, Glenn Selk discusses growth implants and heifer calves.
Terry Bidwell explains new pasture growth after a wildfire in Naturally Speaking.
In Shop Stop, Randy and Wayne demonstrate how to inexpensively replace a broken or faulty switch in a shop vacuum.
Finally, a story with a lot of taste featuring SUNUP's Dave and Austin, as they strive to become certified barbecue judges during a recent class at the Food and Agricultural Products Center.
SUNUP airs Saturdays at 7:30 a.m. on your local OETA channel.
