Kim Anderson of OSU See Wheat Prices Holding Strong as Harvest Cranks Up- And We've Got Your SUNUP Preview
Thu, 19 May 2011 19:26:27 CDT
Oklahoma State University Extension Grain Marketing Economist Dr. Kim Anderson says the yields for this year are higher than expected and test weights are holding strong with a good quality wheat, which is good news for this crop season. Anderson also says the worry about food shortage is causing the markets to be nervous about this crop year. The price right now seems to be continuing to hold strong at $8.50 per bushel.
You can see Kim and Austin Moore discuss more about the wheat market and what to expect as we head into the harvest season- that can be seen on Saturday morning on OETA- or you can hear the conversation now by clicking on the LISTEN BAR that is below now.
Besides Kim Anderson and the wheat markets, also this week on SUNUP, we travel to the 2011 Wheat Tour at the North Central Research Station at Lahoma to talk with James Trapp and local producers. In addition, Chad Godsey explains the potential benefits of double cropping after wheat.
Jody Campiche reminds viewers about the upcoming ACRE application deadline for 2011 and analyzes possible payment scenarios associated with this year's wheat crop.
