Gatlin Squires of Kingfisher Takes Top Spot in State Fair of Oklahoma Livestock Judging


The Young Farmers & Ranchers within the Oklahoma Farm Bureau held their 2011 State Fair of Oklahoma Livestock Judging Contest on Friday, with the Junior Division FFA winner high individual overall in the competition. Gatlin Squires of the Kingfisher FFA scored 480 points and won the Junior FFA Division- and his score was the best of the entire contest. Second to Squires wasa Tyler Schnaithman of Garber FFA, who garnered 473 points which earned him top honors in the Senior FFA Division. Top 4-H Division winners included junior division winner Shyann McWhirter of Maysville 4-H while the Senior 4-H Division was won by Amber Wright of Garvin County.


The top teams in each division included the Kingfisher 4-H Club winning the Junior 4-H, Kay County claiming top honors in the Senior 4-H Division, while Junior FFA was won by the Alva FFA Chapter and Madill FFA took top honors in the competitive Senior FFA Division.


Here are the top winners in each division:

Junior 4-H

1. Shyann McWhirter, Maysville

2. Syndee Gerken, Kingfisher

3. John Belson, Chickasha

4. Ty Goss, Washita

5. Will Shelby, Madill

Top teams in the Junior 4-H include Kingfisher- first, Alva- second, Chickasha-third, Alva- fourth and Minco- Fifth.


Senior 4-H

1. Amber Wright, Garvin County

2. Tray Hageberg, Kay County

3. Garrett Goodwin, Kay County

4. Stormy Perry, Hughes County

5. Austin Glover, Texas County

High teams in the Senior 4-H division included Kay County in first, Madill- second, Canadian County third and Texas County Fourth.


Junior FFA

1. Gatlin Squires, Kingfisher

2. Austin Kirk, Yukon FFA

3. Kory Dietz, ALva

4. Blake Goss, Sentinel

5. Chance Brooks, Coweta

High FFA Chapter teams in the Junior division include ALva- First, Kingfisher- second, Yukon- third, Coweta- fourth and Macomb- Fifth.


Senior FFA

1. Tyler Schnaithman, Garber

2. Hoguen Apperson, Grove

3. Dyson Runyan, Madill

4. Jeff Spencer, Elgin

5. Chris Spence, Madill

Top Senior FFA Chapter teams include Madill- first, Garber-second, Kingfisher-third, Amber-Pocassett- fourth and Grove- fifth.
