Latest USDA Crop Production numbers show a smaller corn crop, higher soybeans.
Mon, 12 Sep 2011 08:01:58 CDT
The USDA released its latest crop production estimates and supply and demand numbers this morning (Monday 9/12/11). The general consensus was that both the corn and soybean crops would be smaller than the August estimates showed.
The actual numbers show the corn crop did get smaller coming in at just under 12.5 billion bushels, but lowered the demand numbers also. These numbers aren't quite as low as the trade was expecting.
As far as the soybean crop, USDA increased those numbers with the yields at 41.8 bushels per acre, increased production to 3.085 billions bushels and showed an increase in export business.
The only numbers that came in for the wheat were the ending stocks which came in much higher than expected.
