Roberts and Lucas Express Little Love for GIPSA
Tue, 01 Nov 2011 05:35:31 CDT
At the 2011 Convention of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association- the opening session featured comments by both Oklahoma Congressman (and cattle rancher) Frank Lucas as well as Kansas Senator Pat Roberts. Both lawmakers spent time talking about the regulatory burden laid down on the countryside by the Obama Administration- and Senator Pat Roberts especially bristled when asked a question about the GIPSA rule- and whether there was any hope of getting the Senate to stop funding for implementation of GIPSA as the House Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2011 contains.
While the Senator did not directly answer in regards to the Senate following the lead of the House in this fashion, he did rant about the marketing rule proposed by the head of GIPSA, Dudley Butler. And Congressman Lucas chimed in and broadened the discussion to include comments about his disdain for the heavy hand of regulations that the Obama Administration is promoting.
You can hear their comments in response to a question from the audience on GIPSA at the TCFA meeting on today's Beef Buzz.
The Beef Buzz is a regular feature heard on radio stations around the region on the Radio Oklahoma Network- but is also a regular audio feature found on this website as well.
