Thu, 03 Nov 2011 16:28:44 CDT
Old Germany in Choctaw, Okla., continues the Legendary Restaurants of Oklahoma this week on Friday, Nov. 4. Old Germany has been open since 1976, when the family visited Oklahoma and decided to make the big decision and move to the state. Known for their strictly German menu, Old Germany serves up the best in original German cuisine.
Mike Turek, one of the family owners of Old Germany Restaurant, says when the restaurant was first opened, they only had a couple of German dishes on the menu. Today, they only serve up dishes that are part of the German culture and one of their most popular dishes is of course their wiener schnitzel.
Some other customer favorites says Turek are the pork schnitzel with mushrooms and cream sauce, chicken schnitzel with peppercorn sauce, and their variety of sausages. Old Germany also pride themselves on only using the finest and best cuts of meat, like the beef tenderloin, ribeye and pork loin. Turek says they also serve up tradition side dishes like potato salad, red cabbage and sauerkraut.
But you won't only experience delicious German food when you visit Old Germany. The restaurant also has a three rooms with very German themes. One is much like a Black Forest theme, the other is like a Bavarian stube with wood wainscotting and beer steins, and the last is like an old wine cellar from the wine country in Germany.
Turek adds that anyone that visits Old Germany Restaurant, he hopes that they will have a unique and pleasurable dining experience.
As part of the Legendary Restaurants of Oklahoma deal, at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, customers will be able to purchase two $25 vouchers to Old Germany for $25.
