Mike Spradling Elected to Third Term as President of Oklahoma Farm Bureau
Mon, 14 Nov 2011 06:05:11 CST
The harsh blows inflicted by nature on Oklahoma over the last couple of years has taken its toll on the health of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company- but delegates decided that the man to oversee the rebuilding of reserves by the insurance company was the current President of the farm organization and affiliated companies, Mike Spradling of Tulsa County. Spradling was reelected to a third term on Saturday afternoon to be President of Oklahoma Farm Bureau and affiliated companies. His opponent, Tom Buchanan of Jackson County, called for change in leadership primarily because of the health of the insurance company, saying a change in strategy was needed.
Spradling, told delegates that he had full confidence in the executive team running both the farm organization and the insurance company- as well as the elected board- to make adjustments in business strategy to keep the insurance company on solid ground. The majority of time allocated to him for a campaign speech was turned over to supporters who expressed their confidence in Spradling.
At the end of the afternoon resolutions session, chairman of the session, Roland Peterson, simply announced "we congratulate Mike Spradling, reelected as the President of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau." No vote tally of the 516 delegates that were registered at the meeting was announced publically.
Earlier in the day, Peterson was reelected by District Seven to continue to serve as a state Board member of the organization, while two incumbents were term limited out- opening the door for Alan Jett of Slapout and Jimmy Wayne Kinder of Walters to be relected to the State Board from District One and Four respectively.
Saturday evening, we talked briefly with Mike Spradling about being reelected for a third term by OFB delegates- click on the Listen Bar below to hear that conversation.
