Dr. Jeff Edwards Goes In Depth Via Video on Wheat Topdressing

OSU Extension Wheat Specialist Dr. Jeff Edwards is moving some of his educational materials onto YouTube. We have three videos that Dr. Edwards has produced on the practice of topdressing winter wheat.


The following video is the first of a three-video series about topdressing winter wheat and covers the basic functions of nitrogen in the plant and the importance of nitrogen fertility. Click on the play button in the video box to see part one with Dr. Jeff Edwards.




Next- Dr. Edwards moves on to the topic of how much nitrogen needs to be applied and how you know how much is enough. .This video provides information on calculating wheat top dress nitrogen requirement and outlines three methods with increasing levels of precision.




Finally, Dr. Edwards covers three key subjects that help you dot all the "i"s and cross all the "t"s when it comes to topdressing your wheat. This video provides information on determining the optimal topdress timing, nitrogen source, and application method
