No Till on the Plains Conference Coming January 24 and 25

The No-till on the Plains Winter Conference is back at the Bicentennial Center in Salina, Kansas for its 16th consecutive year! "Building a Solid Foundation" refers to the many pieces that come together to form a solid, successful system that focuses on soil health, fertility, profits, holistic management, advanced agronomy, equipment needs, grazing, and the importance of crop rotations, including the increasingly valuable management of cover crops.

Why would a producer want to attend this conference? No-till on the Plains has built its reputation and its foundation on educating, informing, and inspiring those who work with this organization. From an educational standpoint, No-till on the Plains gathers the best information and speakers available so producers can be successful with their farm operations. You will have access to tips and management practices from tremendously successful continuous no-tillers. The ability to network with fellow producers, scientists, and exhibitors is also an invaluable part of No Till on the Plains.

There are many ways to accomplish the victory, but to have a steady goal and a clear vision to accomplish that goal is paramount for success. No-till on the Plains simply provides a game plan with a vision for the producer to derive the most benefit from a properly managed system. There are numerous opportunities throughout the two days for attendees to participate in the different tracts available at the event. Don't let the unfamiliarity of growing and marketing new crops overwhelm you as you start to no-till. Whether a producer is ready to begin no-tilling and has questions about the specifics to get started or whether he is a seasoned veteran simply looking to gain one or two tips to elevate his operation from its current level, the Winter Conference should be a must on any producer's "to-do" list.
The 2012 conference has many sessions that producers will find relevant no matter what their tillage practices currently are. We have speakers talking about family conflict and exit strategies from one generation to the next. Of course we will talk about fertility and nutrient management - every farmer deals with this on a daily basis. Also to be addressed is the value of what is going on in the depths of our soil that is every farmer's factory.
Program manager Brian Lindley says it behooves farmers to know what is going on in our soil so they can protect it and insure its productivity well into the future.In an age where 85% of the information that it takes to make a business successful is out of the area of expertise of the person in charge, it is very important to gather as much critical information as possible. No-till on the Plains has tried to simplify this process with the speakers and topics discussed at the conference.
No-till on the Plains also offers another full-day of education on Thursday, January 26 at the Bicentennial Center.
