Dairy Checkoff Hopes to Build Consumer Confidence with New Initiative
Wed, 27 Jun 2012 15:50:20 CDT
To help increase demand for dairy products, the Dairy Checkoff and the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy are launching an initiative to help build advocates for dairy. The program seeks to build consumer confidence by better connecting them with how dairy is produced.
Tom Gallagher, CEO of Dairy Management, Inc., the company that administers the dairy checkoff, says by increasing support for dairy from the farm all the way through the production and marketing chain, consumers will be more likely to purchase dairy.
Gallagher said he hopes to reach third-party thought leaders like nutritionists and the media to gain the most impact.
"We have an industry from farm through production all the way to the consumer, a very exciting story to tell. And the best way for us to tell it, first and foremost is to have our credible third parties help tell that story, so that they're engaged with the consumer on our behalf."
