The American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) Teen Leadership Summit will be held at the Quartz Mountain Resort Arts & Conference Center in southwest Oklahoma. The summit will be held July 5-7, and will be accepting attendee applications through June.
The annual event, which hosts grades 7-9, focuses on developmental leadership tools that will prepare youth to achieve goals, such as working closely with teams. The summit also encourages teens to think about opportunities for growth and leadership in their lives. This year's theme is "Actions Speak Louder than Words."
AFR sponsors a Youth Advisory Council that assists in planning many of AFR's youth programs. The youth advisory council serves as role models and group leaders during leadership summit sessions. Teen Summit attendees will work closely with this year's council and will have the opportunity to build mentor relationships that can influence them into their high school and college years.
The AFR Membership Services and the AFR Mutual Insurance Company partner on many youth and education programs throughout the year. Older students have the opportunity for leadership growth at the AFR Senior Leadership Summit later this summer. All Senior Summit attendance openings have already been filled for this year.
"AFR contributes a large amount of resources to youth across the state of Oklahoma," said AFR President Terry Detrick. "Believing in the future of Oklahoma agriculture, and Oklahoma in general, is key through good times and bad, and the AFR Leadership Summit is just one way of demonstrating our support and reinvesting in the future of young people in communities across Oklahoma."
American Farmers & Ranchers was established in 1905, and is headquartered in Oklahoma City. AFR is actively supportive of Oklahoma's agricultural industry and rural population, and provides educational, legislative, and cooperative programs across the state. AFR also provides insurance products statewide, and is recognized as a leading domestic insurance carrier in the state of Oklahoma.
