Pecan Workshops Offer Key Information for New Enterprises
Thu, 26 Jul 2012 10:18:54 CDT
To help provide timely information about starting and maintaining a pecan enterprise, The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation will host two pecan workshops in August.
The first workshop is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Mid-America Technology Center Seminar Center, located at 27438 SH 59 in Wayne, Okla. The second workshop will be on Thursday, Aug. 16, at North Central Texas College Little Theatre, located at 1525 West California Street in Gainesville, Texas. Each workshop will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on its respective day.
During the workshop, Noble Foundation consultants will detail how and what it takes to start a new pecan enterprise. Participants will learn about pecan fertilization, pest management and the 2012 market outlook. There will be an additional discussion on the future of the pecan industry.
"This workshop provides a good overview of pecan management for those who are contemplating starting their own enterprise," said Charles Rohla, Ph.D., Noble Foundation pecan specialist. "A review of these fundamentals can also help those agricultural producers who have pecans on their property, but aren't quite sure how to oversee the resource."
The workshop is offered at no charge, but preregistration is requested. For additional information or to register, please click here or contact Tracy Cumbie at 580.224.6292.
