US Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack- Rural America Much Better Off Because of Barack Obama
Wed, 05 Sep 2012 19:20:49 CDT
The limelight on US Agriculture was very brief at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte on Wednesday evening, as US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack spoke for a little less than four minutes- praising the President for much of the prosperity found in rural America after his first four years in the White House. Vilsack says that President Obama understands rural America, born to a mother from Kansas and coming up as a Senator from the midwestern state of Illinois.
The Secretary gave the President full credit for expanding US Ag exports, rural development investments and what he called "smart investments in wind, solar and biofuels, following an "All of the Above" energy strategy.
Secretary Vilsack mentioned in a single sentence the need for help in rural America due to the severe drought- saying the President has acted and has called on Congress to help as well, saying the President understands during tough times, Americans pull together.
He adds that we have more to do, saying "From here, we have more to do, much more. President Obama has a detailed plan for a new rural economy, more support for small businesses making, creating and innovating- more investments in the production of biofuels and other biomaterials- and more trade and more markets."
