In this week's beef report with Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News Office in Amarillo, Texas, the choice cut market ended the week of November 3, 2012 at $192.74 cwt, $4.00 lower than the previous week. The daily spot volume was about 900 loads. The total boxed beef volume for all cuts, trims and grinds was 6,923 loads.
The general trend in the finished cattle trade was steady to $2.00 lower from $126 to $127 cwt in the South. The dressed deals were steady to $2.00 lower at $195 to $198 cwt.
The average live weight from the cattle harvested in the Texas Panhandle was 1,278 pounds, eight pounds higher than the previous week.
