Dewald Trades Top Position at Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association for Top Spot at Rural Enterprises Incorporated
Scott Dewald has announced he will be stepping down as the Executive Vice President of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association on Monday, April 1, 2013.

Dewald has accepted the Chief Executive Officer and President role at Rural Enterprises Incorporated headquartered in Durant, Oklahoma.

"I have been truly blessed to work for the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association for the past 17 years." Dewald said. "The OCA is an incredible organization with an excellent membership, Board of Directors, Executive Committee and staff," Dewald said.

(Dewald spoke at length with Radio Oklahoma's Ron Hays. You can listen to their conversation by clicking on the LISTEN BAR at the bottom of this story.)

He said he has been extremely fortunate to work with such a dedicated staff and a tremendous staff of volunteers all across the state.

"Probably the thing that I've enjoyed the most is the opportunity to get to know these people from across the state who make a living in the beef business. And their main priority in life is to pass that on to their sons and daughters or grandsons and granddaughters. They run them like businesses and they want to preserve that for future generations. And that's been a real, real treat for me to have the opportunity to get to know those people."

"We appreciate everything Scott has done for the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association during his time at the OCA." Said Mike Frey, OCA President. "Scott has taken our organization to new heights, he has represented Oklahoma ranchers well, and we wish him the best in his new position."

The OCA Executive Committee will convene in the near future to discuss the transition to new leadership that will ensure continued forward movement of the association.

Dewald said his new position with REI builds on his experiences with the OCA and keeps him close to the rural areas that he loves.

"I'm going to them for a couple of reasons. One is I love their focus on rural Oklahoma and growing business in rural Oklahoma which is near and dear to my heart and lets me continue to be involved in agriculture and rural Oklahoma."

Dewald said his work at REI will help rural businesses with their financing needs. He said the Oklahoma Economic Development Initiative set into motion by Governor Mary Fallin and spearheaded by Oklahoma Secretary of Commerce Dave Lopez will be instrumental in his new work. The inclusion of agriculture and biosciences as a key area for economic growth is an exciting prospect, Dewald said.

"This is a unique opportunity for us to showcase and use what we know from a wealth-creation perspective in agriculture, knowing that it's now being recognized and seeing what we can do to parley that into even more for the people of the state of Oklahoma."
