Oklahoma Man Pleads Guilty in Horse Theft Cases
Tue, 26 Feb 2013 16:08:04 CST
A Wynona, Okla. man pleaded guilty Thursday on two felony counts of larceny of domestic animals after stealing two horses he was hired to break and train.
Michael John Delaney II, 28, received a ten-year deferred sentence with supervised probation and was ordered to pay $2,500 in restitution and another $1,700 in court costs.
According to authorities, Delaney obtained possession of both horses on the pretense of breaking and training them, but failed to return the horses after the owners requested them.
Investigations revealed that one horse was traded. Special Ranger Bart Perrier, with the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, located that horse and returned it to the owner.
The cases were both investigated by Perrier and Osage County Sheriff Office Chief Investigator Charlie Cartwright.
