Drought Monitor Continues to Show Improvement in Latest Weekly Update
Thu, 11 Apr 2013 07:44:05 CDT
Drought has retreated in much of eastern Oklahoma- based on the latest Drought Monitor Graphic as shown above. A part of LeFlore County in eastern Oklaoma is no longer in drought or even is listed as being abnormally dry. The amount of the state in drought- moderate or worse- has dropped from 99.3% down to 85 % in this latest release.
The rains of this week are not a factor in this latest national reading- but will be reflected next week.
Rainfall totals from this week's cold wet weather system show two large swaths of the state getting over an inch of precipitation, with McAlester and Guthrie leading the Mesonet stations with over two inches of rainfall.
The graphic below shows the rainfall totals for this week- showing only the six Panhandle Mesonet stations coming up empty when it came to rainfall amounts this week.
