Upcoming Workshop Focuses on Pecan Grafting Tecniques
Mon, 15 Apr 2013 10:22:20 CDT
The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation will host a Pecan Grafting Workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, at the Noble Foundation Pavilion.
This hands-on workshop will provide participants an opportunity to hone their skills by working with experts to graft young pecan trees. There will also be time for individuals to interact with the Noble Foundation's horticulture consultants to ask questions one-on-one.
"Pecan trees being planted in an orchard should be propagated to a proven cultivar by grafting or budding," said Charles Rohla, Ph.D., assistant professor. "The attention to detail in a tree's establishment years improves the possibility of early and enhanced production in a new pecan orchard."
This workshop is offered at no charge, but preregistration is required. For more information or to preregister, please visit www.noble.org/agevents or contact Jackie Kelley at 580.224.6360.
