Thomas-Fay-Custer High School Graduate Receives AGCO-Sponsored FFA Collegiate Scholarship
AGCO, a worldwide distributor and manufacturer of agricultural equipment, is the sponsor of a National FFA Collegiate Scholarship awarded to Garret Crispin of Thomas-Fay-Custer High School in Thomas, Oklahoma. Crispin is one of 18 outstanding FFA members to receive a scholarship sponsored by AGCO and AGCO Finance, says Jason Marx, vice president of marketing. Scholarships were provided through the 2012-2013 FFA Collegiate Scholarship Program.

"These students are selected based on the leadership they have shown in their schools and communities and for their academic excellence," says Marx. "FFA played a major role in helping them set and achieve their goals. Now, AGCO is proud to help support them in their continuing efforts to excel."

For the 2012-2013 FFA scholarship year, AGCO and more than 60 of the company's dealers also provided 120 $1,000 scholarships to deserving FFA members in each dealer's local community. This endeavor began in 2011. AGCO's support for the National FFA Collegiate Scholarship Program is just one way the company and its employees express their appreciation for FFA and today's youth. Other activities include corporate involvement at National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. These activities represent a 68-year commitment between the company's brands and the National FFA Organization, which is one of the longest partnerships with the FFA. Marx notes that many AGCO employees credit FFA with helping them to develop their skills and lifelong interest in agriculture.

"The FFA Collegiate Scholarship Program connects AGCO and the next generation of leaders in American agriculture," says Marx. "Garret Crispin and the others who receive this honor will soon take their place among those leaders and in our communities as teachers, engineers, agronomists and farmers."

Garret's parents are Bruce and Billie Crispin. The Thomas-Fay-Custer High School graduate will be a freshman in the fall at Southwest Oklahoma State University majoring in Engineering Physics.

AGCO- and AGCO Finance-sponsored scholarships make up just a few of the 1,645 scholarships awarded by the National FFA organization to 2013 high school graduates and select college students. Students shared a total of more than $2.1 million contributed by sponsoring companies. Recipients were chosen from 6,116 students who applied for the scholarships for students entering multiyear programs. Awards were based on academic records, FFA achievements, leadership, and other school and community activities. Supervised agricultural-experience programs and future goals were also considered.

AGCO and AGCO Finance-sponsored scholarships were distributed to 18 students from Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Their academic majors include agricultural business management, environmental engineering, engineering physics, animal sciences, agricultural education, agricultural economics, pre-vet/vet sciences, economics, fishing and fisheries science, food science and technology, and agricultural communication.

"Agriculture constantly faces new challenges and new opportunities. Garret Crispin and the other 17 scholarship recipients will help meet these challenges and explore these opportunities, thanks in part to the role FFA played," says Marx. "AGCO salutes the FFA and its success in helping to nurture and develop a love of agriculture in these students. We are proud to be a long-term supporter of these and other FFA efforts."
