Senator Crain comments on Outcome of Texas Fight to Take Oklahoma Water
Thu, 13 Jun 2013 16:08:13 CDT
State Sen. Brian Crain, R-Tulsa, served as co-chairman of the Joint Legislative Water Committee formed in 2011 to explore the state's long-term water needs. Crain issued a statement following Thursday's U.S. Supreme Court ruling against Texas in a lawsuit aimed at forcing Oklahoma to sell water from within its borders.
"I am very pleased with the unanimous ruling of the Supreme Court. The nine justices affirmed our belief that Oklahoma has the right to determine what should be done with Oklahoma's water. Whatever happens to Oklahoma's water in the future, that decision will be made north of the Red River."
