Thu, 11 Jul 2013 14:58:36 CDT
The final word against H R 2642- the so called Farm Bill Farm Bill, was offered by the ranking member of the House Ag Committee, Collin Peterson of Minnesota. Peterson had to ask for a couple of minutes of time to make his final pitch to members of Congress to oppose the farm bill sans nutrition. Lucas said in the "Spirit of comedy" that he would offer two minutes to Congressman Peterson.
Peterson expressed frustration about the Republicans who voted for various amendments that made the bill very unattractive to Democrats- and then those same Republicans who voted for those amendments voted against the final amended bill.
