Feeder Cattle Auction Close for 7/01/13

Receipts: 6120    Last Week: 6141    Year Ago: 3071

Compared to last week's regular sale, steer calves under 500 lbs steady, over 500 lbs and yearling steers 3.00 to 6.00 higher, heifers under 650 lbs 3.00 to 8.00 higher, over 650 lbs steady to 3.00 higher. Demand good, supply moderate. Yearling steers made up the bulk of the offering. The lower temperatures and humidity has helped the calf trade. Yearlings getting a boost from the higher trade at the CME, as Feeder Cattle futures closed with triple digit gains. The feeder supply included 69 percent steers, 28 percent heifers, 02 percent bulls, with 76 percent over 600 lbs.
