Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for Monday 06/16/2014

Actual Receipts: 7428   Last Monday: 6234   Year Ago Monday: 9274

Compared to last week: Feeder steers sold mostly 6.00 to 10.00 higher,
with instances of 10.00 to 15.00 higher on steers weighing over 800 lbs.
Feeder heifers mostly 4.00 to 6.00 higher. Steer calves 8.00 to 10.00
higher, light weight calves sharply higher but were lightly tested. Heifer
calves 10.00 to 14.00 higher, with instances of up to 17.00 higher on 550-
600 lb heifers. Demand very good for all classes.

The CME Feeder Cattle Index continued to march upward late last week and closed higher this
afternoon with the fall contracts reported to be staying around 208.00-
209.00 range. The strength on the CME board has supported the higher
prices reported in the barn. Temperatures are forecasted to remain in the
90s for the rest of the week, with a slight chance of thunderstorms
mid-week. Receipts this week totaled 70 percent over 600 lbs and 38
percent heifers.
