HSUS Attempts to Bully Oklahoma Attorney General
Thu, 22 Jan 2015 17:35:25 CST
The Humane Society of the United States filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, who had opened an inquiry into the group's fundraising last year. HSUS is stonewalling by refusing to turn over documents related to this inquiry. Will Coggin, director of research for the Center for Consumer Freedom, released the following statement about the lawsuit:
"The Humane Society of the United States is desperately trying to avoid being held accountable for the fact that only one penny of every dollar it raises goes to local pet shelters. This lame attempt to bully the attorney general is just the latest tactic from a group that paid millions last year to settle a federal racketeering, fraud, and bribery lawsuit. General Pruitt should be commended for opening an inquiry of the group. HSUS can't play the victim when it's ripping off animal lovers across the country, and this lawsuit only shows that it has something to hide from law enforcement."
Charity Navigator has issued a "Donor Advisory" against HSUS, which spends millions to put farmers and ranchers out of business.
