Oklahoma Youth Expo Celebrates 100th Birthday by Selling the Grand Champion Goat for $27,500

The 2015 Oklahoma Youth Expo Sale of Champions saw a record level of support as the show celebrated its centennial year of existence. Originally started in 1915 by the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce in 1915, the 100th annual renewal of a market animal show in Oklahoma City recorded $1.25 million dollars in premium sales for the 211 animals that were the cream of the crop in the four species shown during the course of the week leading up to the auction. Those dollars were on top of market value of the animals in this premium sale.

The newest species added to the event, the market goats, saw the Grand Champion Wether Goat sell for a record $27,500. The best goat of the 2015 show was shown by Kami Oller of the Garber FFA Chapter. The record price of $27,500 was paid by Pfeiffer Farms, the Diamond Hats and McDonald's of Oklahoma. The excitement of the 100th Birthday of the OYE caused a substantial jump in the sale price of the Grand Champion Goat, which sold for $14,000 in 2014.

The Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat was shown by Montana Newell of Lookeba-Sickles FFA and the number two goat from the show sold for $12,500- and was purchased by Farm Credit of Oklahoma, Showrite Feeds and Loving Care Health.

The Bronze Medallion Market Goat was brought into the ring by its young owner, Darci Peach of Seiling FFA- and it sold for $8,500. Buyers on the Bronze Medaillionm Goat included the Oklahoma State Fair and Bank of Western Oklahoma.

The 2015 Market Goat Show was the 12th Year for Market Goats to be a part of the Oklahoma City event.
