Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 03/30/2015

Actual Receipts: 9,501   Last Monday: 6,206   Year Ago Monday: 8,316

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers mostly steady. Steer and heifer calves firm to 3.00 higher on comparable sales. Rain and severe storms came through last week, bringing some much needed rain to the Central and Eastern portions of the state. However, very little rain was recorded in Western Oklahoma where the US Drought Monitor shows the entire region in the Severe to Exceptional drought categories. Receipts slightly higher than expected this week, however some cattle may have been slated for next week but shipped today instead because of the Easter holiday next weekend. The majority of the heavy weight yearling cattle were carrying more flesh and fill than the previous week. Supply included 77 percent over 600 lbs and 39 percent heifers.
