Oklahoma National Stockyards - Mid-Session
Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 04/06/2015

Estimated Receipts: 6,000   Last Monday: 9,501   Year Ago Monday: 5,283

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers mostly steady to 3.00 higher, with the exception of 600-700 lb steers which traded weak on a light test. Steer and heifer calves steady to 2.00 higher, as demand for thin fleshed calves suitable for grazing remains very good. Boxed beef cutout values reached their highest price levels of the spring, even with choice and prime carcasses now comprising 76 percent of the nations fed beef supply. Higher boxed beef prices increased packer demand for fat cattle last week with fats trading 2.00-4.00 higher in the country on Friday. Increased demand on fats coupled with favorable spring weather has helped prop up feeder demand and prices. Temperatures are forecasted to be in the 70's and 80's throughout the week, with increased chances of severe storms in the evenings.
