Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 04/13/2015

Actual Receipts: 8,024   Last Monday: 5,769   Year Ago Monday: 5,714

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers mostly steady to 5.00 lower, with the exception of 600-700 lb steers suitable for summer grazing programs which traded 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves are mostly steady on a light test. According to the US Drought Monitor, approximately 40 percent of Oklahoma is listed in the extreme or exceptional drought categories. The severe drought areas are located in the Western portions of the state. Some drought relief is in store this week, as a persistent southerly flow will continue to push up from Gulf Coast which is expected to bring an average of 1 to 2 inches of precipitation across the state over the next week. Supply included 71 percent over 600 lbs and 34 percent heifers.
