Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 04/20/2015

Actual Receipts: 5,419   Last Monday: 8,024   Year Ago Monday: 6,069

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers mostly steady to 4.00 lower, with the exception of 650-750 lb steers which traded 2.00 to 3.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves are mostly steady on a light test. Quality is plain to average, with the majority of the supply carrying some ear. Rains last week produced between 0.5 and 4.5 inches across all regions of the state, with the largest rainfall totals recorded in the Western and Central regions. Although it will take quite a bit more rainfall in the West to bring those producers out of the extreme to exceptional drought categories, last week was a step in the right direction. Supply included 76 percent over 600 lbs and 38 percent heifers.
