Rural Democrats Support 'Right to Farm'
Thu, 23 Apr 2015 12:11:57 CDT
House Joint Resolution 1012, better known as the "right to farm" amendment, passed the Oklahoma Senate Tuesday with overwhelming support, on a vote of 39-6.
Rural House Democrats said Wednesday they are grateful to see the legislation pass the Senate by an overwhelming margin. Those Democrats have always stood for rural Oklahoma and against outside interests telling farmers and ranchers how to run their operations. Operations that not only provide food and fiber for Americans but for the world. Operations that are the envy of people across the globe.
The "right to farm" amendment passed the House earlier this month, by a vote of 90-6. Amendments were added after the bill reached the Senate, so the measure now returns to the House of Representatives for reconsideration.
House Democrats will continue to support "right to farm" as it returns to the House of Representatives for a final vote, and will work to educate our great state as to the need for this constitutional amendment.
