Oklahoma National Stockyards - Add Mid-Session

Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 05/04/2015

Estimated Receipts: 10,200   Last Monday: 6,280   Year Ago Monday: 9,655

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers are steady to 4.00 higher, except few 6 weight steers steady to 2.00 lower. Steer and heifer calves not well tested but a sharply higher undertone is noted. Supply includes several feeder cattle off of graze-out wheat in slightly thin to fleshy conditions. Demand improved for feeder cattle as slaughter cattle prices moved higher and cattle futures are making positive moves. Demand remains moderate to good for thin fleshed cattle going to grass, however some of these accounts are beginning to fill up. Nice spring rains last week followed by warm weather has greened up much of the state. More rain is expected for much of this week as well.
