Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 05/11/2015

Actual Receipts: 4,036   Last Monday: 10,303   Year Ago Monday: 8,781

Compared to last week: Feeder steers traded firm to 3.00 higher, with most advances on cattle over 900 lbs. Feeder heifers mostly steady. Not enough comparable sales on steer or heifer calves for a market trend. Receipts are lighter this week, as producers are having a hard time getting into pastures to gather and ship cattle following last week's severe storms and heavy rains. According to the Oklahoma Climatologist Survey, over the last 30 days the average statewide rainfall was 9.63 inches, which is 5.84 inches above normal for this time of year. More rain and storms are expected towards the end of the week and thru the weekend.
