Celebrating Beef Day at the Capitol
Thu, 21 May 2015 09:40:23 CDT
The Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association fired up the grill Wednesday, May 20, at the State Capitol to celebrate Beef Month and Beef Day at the Capitol.
The purpose of Beef Day was to provide our elected officials and those that work with them a tasty beef meal while promoting beef and building relationships. Oklahoma is the 5th largest beef producing state with more than 55,000 ranches statewide.
"It's important for us to educate our elected officials that beef is more than just what's for dinner here in Oklahoma!" said Michael Kelsey, OCA Executive Vice President.
The Oklahoma Beef Council, Oklahoma CattleWomen, The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation and the Oklahoma State University Animal Science Extension set up booths inside the capitol. Complimentary boot shines were also available throughout the day.
"We hand delivered our 'Here's the BEEF' newsletter to each office with a verbal invitation to come eat an all-beef hotdog for lunch," Kelsey said. "We are pleased with the amount of participation in this event and look forward to making Beef Day an anticipated tradition!"
