Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 09/14/2015

Actual Receipts: 10,634   Last Monday: Closed   Year Ago Monday: 7,821

Compared to two weeks ago: Feeder cattle and calves 5.00-10.00 lower; instances of cattle over 750 lbs up to 15.00 lower. Un-weaned or short weaned steer and heifer calves up to 20.00 lower. Demand for feeder cattle moderate following another week of lower slaughter cattle prices. Weather in control of demand for calves as wide swings in temps are difficult in maintaining the health of a calf. Quality plain to average, end attractive. Weather front moved in late last week and some cooler temperatures for a short period, warmer weather and strong winds are in store for the week ahead. Supply included 73 percent over 600 lbs. and 39 percent heifers.
