Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 09/21/2015

Actual Receipts: 6,434   Last Monday: 10,634   Year Ago Monday: 7,254

    Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 2.00-6.00 lower, except for limited numbers of steers over 850 lbs sold steady. Heifers over 700 lbs not well tested. Steer and heifer calves sold 7.00-12.00 lower.   Demand mostly moderate. Cattle futures moved in a positive direction, however many are not sure if this is a true turning point in the market. Quality plain to average, end attractive with about 950 head of reputation calves included. These sold to good demand. Weather front moved in over the weekend giving many some much needed rain. Supply included 56 percent over 600 lbs. and 37 percent heifers.

   Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1: Calves: few 250-325 lbs fancy 323.00-329.00; 350-400 lbs 252.00-284.00; 425-500 lbs 225.00-249.00, fancy 241.00-258.00,fleshy 213.00-223.00; 500-600 lbs 195.50-227.50, fleshy 200.00; 600-650 lbs 185.00-200.00, fleshy 182.00; 650-700 lbs 180.00-191.00, fleshy 170.00-174.00; few 700-725 lbs 180.00-185.00, fleshy 179.00; Yearlings: 650-700 lbs 194.00-215.00; 700-800 lbs 180.00-202.75; 800-875 lbs 180.00-191.75; few 925-975 lbs 175.00-185.00; lot 1025 lbs 170.00.

Medium and Large 1-2: 300-350 lbs 233.00-239.00; 400-500 lbs 195.00-226.00; 500-575 lbs 194.50-205.50; 600-675 lb calves 184.50-192.00; 685-700 lbs 187.00-201.50; 700-800 lbs 189.00-198.50, 715 lbs thin fleshed 200.00; 800-875 lbs 170.00-187.50.

   Medium and Large 2: lot 495 lbs 175.00; 515-575 lbs 178.50-180.00; 600-700 lbs 170.50-190.00; 700-750 lbs 185.00-190.00; 825-875 lbs 169.00-178.50; lot 960 lbs 174.00.
