CropLife America Issues Statement on Trans-Pacific Partnership Trade Agreement
Tue, 06 Oct 2015 14:24:28 CDT
CropLife America (CLA) has issued the following statement from Jay Vroom, president and CEO of CLA, upon the conclusion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations:
"It is vital that American farmers and input suppliers to our farmers have the ability to access and compete in the global marketplace. Through protecting intellectual property rights, reducing and eliminating tariffs and other barriers to agricultural exports, opening up access to new markets and making sure that foreign regulations are based in science, trade agreements can enable U.S. crop protection and agricultural businesses to be successful in international markets, supporting jobs and the economy back at home.
"Thank you to U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman and the U.S. interagency negotiating team for their work on the TPP negotiations. We look forward to seeing the full details of the agreement to evaluate its effects on the crop protection industry. With more than 95 percent of the world's consumers living outside of the U.S., we cannot allow the U.S. to fall behind in global agricultural trade."
