Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 03/14/2016

Actual Receipts: 6,267   Last Monday: 10,083   Year Ago Monday: 10,947

   Compared to last week: Feeder steers 3.00-6.00 higher. Feeder heifers steady to 4.00 higher. Demand very good for feeder cattle. Steer calves steady but under 500 lbs lightly tested and sharply higher. Heifer calves steady to 4.00 higher. Demand good for all classes, especially cattle headed to grass pastures or graze out wheat. Most conditions of cattle improved from last week and thin fleshed to moderate flesh with gaunt to full weigh-ups. Rains fell over the weekend and temperatures are expected to be more spring like for the first of the week, though cooler temps and more rain are expected for the upcoming weekend. Supply included 76 percent over 600 lbs and 29 percent heifers.
