Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 03/21/2016

Actual Receipts: 8,880   Last Monday: 6,267   Year Ago Monday: 6,206

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers steady to 3.00 lower with moderate to good demand. Steer and heifer calves sold steady to 3.00 higher. Demand good for calves. Quality average to attractive with several cattle in thin to medium flesh conditions. Demand for feeder cattle remained good, despite the CME cattle futures posting another day of losses. Cold front pushed thru the state over the weekend, dropping temperatures into the mid 20's overnight. This could be very detrimental to what was a very good wheat crop. Supply included 64 percent over 600 lbs and 34 percent heifers.
