ICYMI- Mike Schulte Reviews the 2016 Oklahoma Wheat Crop with Ron Hays In the Field- Video In case You Missed It- Mike Schulte, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Wheat Commission, was the guest of Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays on Saturday morning on KWTV News9. Schulte and Hays reviewed the 2016 Oklahoma winter wheat crop, a crop that Schulte says surprised him and many others. Schulte told Hays that he was very concerned about the crop the latter part of March and into early April, as much of the Oklahoma wheat belt had been dry over much of the winter- and the crop was suffering as it came out of dormancy.


However, the rains started- and May saw almost perfect grain fill conditions- and the crop responded with excellent test weights and outstanding yields- except in south central and southwestern Oklahoma where the rains did not let up to allow the combines to get into the fields and get the crop out at the peak of its condition.
