Farmer Cooperatives Council Names House Ag Committee Staffer as Director of Government Affairs

National Council of Farmer Cooperatives (NCFC) President Chuck Conner today announced the addition of Mary Nowak to the NCFC staff effective October 11, 2016. Nowak will be director of government affairs with responsibility for issues including specialty crops, immigration, food safety and nutrition.


Nowak comes to NCFC from the House Agriculture Committee, where she worked in a number of roles for the past seven years. Most recently, she served as a professional staff member for the committee focusing on issues such as nutrition, immigration, biotechnology, specialty crops, pesticides and bioterrorism.


"Mary is a fantastic addition to our team and I would like to welcome her to NCFC," said Conner. "Her background and outlook makes her a perfect fit for the organization, strengthening our staff in important areas. I believe that NCFC members will quickly come to value her expertise across a range of important public policy areas."


A native of Burleson County, Texas, Nowak grew up on her family's farm where they raised cattle and grew peaches, blackberries, apricots, and many varieties of vegetables. She holds a bachelor of science degree in agricultural economics from the Texas A&M University.
