Mon, 24 Oct 2016 10:02:12 CDT

Enahnce Your Knowledge of Designing Risk Management Plan for Farm at Upcoming Workshop Agricultural producers and farm service providers looking to enhance their knowledge about and ability to design risk management plans for a farm or ranch enterprise should register now to attend the 2016 Crop Insurance Workshop taking place Nov. 11 at Enid's Autry Technology Center.

"Participants will receive timely and relevant information that will improve their understanding of cost-profit linkages, factors affecting the agricultural industry outlook, Whole-Farm Crop Insurance and crop insurance policy issues," said Trent Milacek, Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension area agricultural economist headquartered in Enid.

Milacek added producers will be able to apply the information to their operational management decisions while crop insurance agents, agricultural lenders, marketing consultants, agricultural educators and other risk management service providers will be able to better assist clients in making risk management decisions.

"For those who need them, insurance continuing education credits are available for participants from the following states: Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Wyoming and South Dakota," he said.

Cost for the 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. workshop is $100 per participant through Nov. 5, and $120 per participant thereafter. The Autry Technology Center is located at 1201 W. Willow St. in Enid. Online registration is available by accessing cropinsure.unl.edu and clicking on the Workshop Registration tab.

"Pre-registering online greatly aids our planning and ensures we have sufficient numbers of refreshments, lunches and conference materials on hand," Milacek said. "Don't wait. The workshop is a great opportunity to stay abreast of the latest information and to interact not only with the experts leading workshop sessions but also with industry peers who may have personal insights related to their particular agribusiness aspect."

The workshop is being offered through a partnership of OSU's Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Kansas State University Research and Extension, Colorado State University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
