Congressman Frank Lucas Vows to Stay True to the Priorities of Rural Oklahoma
Tue, 08 Nov 2016 22:54:19 CST
Oklahoma has spoken and Congressman Frank Lucas will keep his seat in the House of Representatives. The Congressman tells Associate Farm Director Carson Horn in a post-election interview that things really began to fall together after the passage of the Farm Bill back in 2014, when his leadership as chairman of the House Agriculture Committee was under scrutiny.
"Clearly my neighbors have responded," Lucas said. "It's important we address issues that are important in rural America; important to Oklahoma."
Staying true to the priorities of his constituents, Lucas assures that among his top issues that he plans to pursue in his new term will be finding ways to sell the products of our region in especially in areas of agriculture and energy, on a world market.
"That's where we have got to head," Lucas said, "which means less regulation, more practical tax codes - just greater focus on creating opportunities here at home."
The Trans Pacific Partnership just so happens to be one avenue to achieve that goal, that is up for discussion currently.
"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity," Lucas said. "We need a chance to vote on this. We'll see what leadership and the new administration advocate when this election is over with tonight."
