Thousands of Animals and Kids, One Basketball Pro and the Majority of the Oklahoma Legislature on the Agenda- Your Tuesday OYE Recap

Tue, 19 Mar 2019 09:05:53 CDT

Thousands of Animals and Kids, One Basketball Pro and the Majority of the Oklahoma Legislature on the Agenda- Your Tuesday OYE Recap At one time- Tuesday was a transition day and perhaps not quite as busy as other days- that is definitely NOT the case for the 2019 OYE-

Lots of animals will be showing today- the MoorMan's ShowTec Market Barrow Show starts a three day run this morning at 8 AM. Also being shown today- the MoorMan's ShowTec Commercial Breeding Ewe Show in the State Fair Arena- starting at 11:30

Also Happening today- the Sunglo Cattle Showmanship will begin at 1:00 PM today.

Backing up to yesterday- Beef Heifers wrapped up and the Supreme Champion and Beef Champions are detailed in our story in the Blue Green gazette- available here.

Congrats also to the Swine Showmanship winners- Sara Marlow of Tulsa County was the overall Showmanship Winner- She was the Intermediate Champ while the Reserve Showmanship Winner overall was the Senior Division winner- Delaney Pippen of Oklahoma Union.

Outside of the show ring- two exciting events are happening- the Oklahoma Beef Council is presenting a special guest appearance at the OYE of NBA Basketball Star Steven Adams- that happens at 2:15 this afternoon in the SuperBarn just outside of the Show Offices. (and yes- Adams is our Kiwi- from New Zealand before landing in OKC to play for the Thunder.)

Later in the afternoon- the Diamond Hats have their annual Sparkle Sparkle event- This One's For the Girls from 3 to 5 in the Barn Three Sales Pavilion.

And THE event this evening is the annual Legislative and Celebrity Showmanship Contest- Tyler Norvell says over a hundred of the 150 lawmakers from the State Legislature will be there tonight- being mentored by constituents from back home(4-H and FFA members) in how to show one of the four species. Last year, the overall winner was House Speaker Charles McCall of Atoka. (pictured above)
