Sun, 14 Apr 2019 14:27:30 CDT
The National Cattlemen's Beef Association's Chief Environmental Counsel Scott Yager says it may seem obvious that farmers and ranchers depend on a healthy environment for their livelihoods. But up on Capitol Hill, radical environmental groups have tried to build a different narrative.
In the debate over the 2015 Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule, for example, opponents of have tried painting livestock producers as the enemy of clean water.
Yager contends that's why cattlemen's comments for the proposed replacement of the 2015 WOTUS rule emphasize the importance of clean water and clear rules to farmers, ranchers and landowners.
In our Monday, April 15th Beef Buzz, Yager discusses why cattle producers should file comments on the Trump Administration's proposed water rule, and as a former EPA employee, he sheds some light on what happens behind the scenes when comments are filed on proposed rules.
