Performance Beef Sale Gives Kids an Opportunity to Make a Profit, and for Buyers to Get Quality Beef
Wed, 25 Mar 2020 12:03:01 CDT
The Premium Performance Beef Sale is coming up March 26, 2020, at 7 pm. This sales gives livestock kids an opportunity to sell their market animals that they had previously been unable to sell.
This year the sale will be a little bit different. The sale is usually held at the fairgrounds, in person, but Due to COVID-19, the sale will be conducted online at LMAauctions.com
Associate Farm Director, KC Sheperd spoke with Brad Nichols who said this is an excellent event for these kids who have worked so hard on these animals, "This program is set up for this auction, so it's a great organization that gives the kids a chance to sell their animals to make money to be able to purchase their animals for next year. They've worked hard since late spring, raising these animals to a specific weight."
100% of the sales go directly back to the kids. Nichols says if they didn't have the sale, the kids would have to find other ways to sell these animals, "At this time of year with all the shows ending, it makes it really tough to try to get rid of animals, and this is a way for everyone local to fill their freezer full of meat, for cheaper than the supermarket prices, and have some quality animals that are fed and raised just for this purpose."
Nichols reminds bidders they can Register to bid through the Checotah Livestock Market. Bidding will be on half a beef carcass. Each half will be sold individually. (no option to purchase whole beef)
Recommend buyers are asked to register online by Noon on sale day.
Payment must be made before you can pick up beef.
All carcasses are hanging at Walke Brothers in Claremore, Oklahoma. All meat must be picked up at Walke Brothers, and all meat is vacuum-sealed.
